Billing, trial, and tier questions.
What happens after the 7-day Pro trial?
Your account drops to the free tier — 3 documents, 10 explanations and 3 glossary builds per calendar month, forever. Your library stays. You can upgrade to a paid plan any time from the dashboard.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancel from the dashboard in one click — it opens the Stripe Customer Portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, so you keep Pro access for the time you have already paid for.
Do you offer refunds?
Refunds aren't standard for partial billing periods — you keep Pro access for the remainder of the period you have already paid for. In exceptional cases, email support@getsidenote.app and we'll figure it out.
Can I switch between Pro, Pro+, and Pro Max?
Yes, from the dashboard. Upgrades are prorated so you only pay the difference for the rest of the month. Downgrades take effect at the next renewal.
What happens if I exceed my monthly limit?
Sidenote shows an upgrade prompt with the next tier that fits. Documents you have already ingested stay accessible — you simply can't ingest new ones (or run more chats / explanations / glossaries) until the monthly counter resets or you upgrade.
Is there a team plan with SSO and shared libraries?
Coming soon. The team plan is on the roadmap with SSO, shared collections, and admin controls. Email support@getsidenote.app to join the early list — we'll let you know when it ships.
