See the citations you'd be chatting with.

Paste a link or upload a small file and get a live cited summary. Every chat answer runs through the same server-side quote verification you can expand here. No account needed.

Grounded, not gullible

An answer without a source is just a rumor.

Answers only from your documents

Sidenote retrieves the relevant passages and answers from those, not from the model's imagination. No document support, no claim.

Validated server-side

Each cited quote is matched against the real document text before you see it. Unsupported claims are dropped, never dressed up.

Scanned PDFs included

Image-only PDFs are OCR'd automatically, so you can chat with scans, faxes and 1990s appendices like any other file.

Chat across collections

Group documents into a collection and ask one question across all of them. Citations jump into whichever file each fact came from.

Works everywhere you read: PDFs, Confluence, Notion, Word and any web page.

FAQ

Chatting with documents, answered.

Chat runs on the 7-day Pro trial (no card required) and on paid plans. The free plan doesn't include chat, but it does include summaries, explanations and glossaries. The instant tools at getsidenote.app/tools are free too, no account at all.
PDFs (scanned ones included, via OCR), Word documents, PowerPoint decks, Google Docs, Confluence and Notion pages, SharePoint and OneDrive files, Slack canvases and messages, plus any article or web page open in your browser.
Three ways: Sidenote lives in your browser on the page you're already reading; it answers only from the document, with server-validated citations; and clicking a citation scrolls the actual page to the exact sentence. It's built for verification, not just conversation.
Every claim must carry a quote that the server can match against the real document text. Quotes that don't match are dropped before the answer reaches you. Sidenote can say “the document doesn't cover this”; it won't invent a citation.
Yes. Chat is threaded, keeps history per document, and even queues your next question while the current answer is still streaming.
Documents are stored encrypted in a UK region with row-level security isolating every account, and you can choose Discard mode to purge a document within 24 hours. See getsidenote.app/security-compliance for the full picture.
Ready when you are
